"Only a 20-minute drive from Perth, the Butterflies, Birds and Bridges Trail is one of the most scenic trails in Canning Regional Park. You’ll walk through sedge meadows, mature woodlands, creeks and amongst the crowns of a paperbark forest. This lengthy but easy trail is the perfect weekend day trip, and with water access points and a cafe, it’s a trail that you don’t have to be too prepared for."
"The southern edge of the Swan River in South Perth has magnificent views across the water to central Perth. After Kings Park it is probably the next most obvious location, and justifiably so. The whole shoreline can provide scenic viewpoints, but I've focussed on three of my favourites."

"The highlight is the Guildford Hotel; a fire (which may have been an arson attempt) burnt the entire hotel down. Instead of refurbishing it, the owners decided to reopen it with the fire damage still intact (making sure everything was secure, of course!). The result is a somewhat eerie hotel with jagged floorboards sticking out and old fireplaces in random spots. It’s a good spot for some breakfast, but don’t have too much coffee yet, because your next stop is…"
"Last but not least in my tour of great places to eat in Perth, The Guildford Hotel is a historical building which has been turned into a local pub and offers some of the best casual dining in the city - or simply a pint with friends. Whether you fancy sitting inside under the beautiful arches or outside in the picturesque beer garden, you can’t go wrong spending an afternoon here. Want more content like this?"
"If your stomach has been rumbling for a decent parmi or oozy burger then takeaway from The Guildford Hotel is sure to fix this craving. Open from Friday to Sunday, the kitchen will be dishing up your favourites as well as smoked meat packs and beer and wine."

"Caversham Wildlife Park is a 25-minute drive from the Perth CBD and here kids and parents can get up close and personal with the animals. Daily attractions include a ‘True Blue Aussie Farm Show” where you’ll get to watch sheep shearing, cracking of a stock whip, cow milking, and sheepdogs mustering sheep. You’ll even get to meet a stockman on horseback."
"Learn about Australian wildlife at Caversham Wildlife Park (2h)
If you‘re eager to meet Australian wildlife, a visit to Caversham Wildlife Park is a must!"
"For a big day out a little further out of Perth, Cohunu Koala Park down in Byford is a great chance to get your kids acquainted with some native Australian wildlife. There are parrots, emus, kangaroos, owls, deer and of course, koalas. There’s even some replica dinosaurs (we’re sensing a bit of a Jurassic theme on this list) and a kids train to choo choo around on."
