"XXXX Gold is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most iconic and popular beers, first introduced in 1924 and still today brewed in iconic Castlemaine Perkins Brewery in the inner-suburb of Milton in Brisbane. Given its notoriety and legendary status both in Australia and abroad it is no wonder that one of the most popular things to do in Brisbane is to book onto a XXXX brewery tour which takes you through the 140+ year history of Queensland’s most enigmatic brewery. You’ll learn all about this classic brew, their world-class brewing methods, ingredients and, obviously, how to pour the perfect XXXX."

"Last year, Stone and Wood brought their laidback vibes and impeccable brews up from Byron Bay, making a heritage-listed building on Bridge Street its second home. Rocking an eight-hectolitre brewhouse and five fermenters, the brewers produce one-off small batch beers exclusively for the venue, with the team pouring them straight from the tanks behind the bar."
"Expectations were high, but Stone & Wood’s first tap room outside of Byron Bay doesn’t disappoint. This 150-seat, eight-hectolitre brewpub is in a heritage-listed warehouse on Bridge Street. The industrial atmosphere is complemented by the fit-out: exposed brickwork, steel and timber beams."
"The brewer opened its first site in Newstead in 2013 and expanded to a second location in Milton in 2017. Both venues are well worth a visit as they both offer tap beer straight from the source (both venues have working breweries onsite, the Milton site is the larger, being able to produce 1.4 million litres of beer per year). Alongside the core range of nine beers and a cider, both venues offer fresh, seasonal food that is the result of just as much love as the beers."

The lavish innards were restored in 2009 and the property now offers free podcast and one-hour guided tours; the latter must be booked in advance. The first floor houses the William Robinson Gallery, dedicated to the great Australian artist and home to an impressive collection of his paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and ceramics."
"When Queensland separated from New South Wales in 1859, it needed a new building to house its independent government.
